Who We Are

In European folklore, the seven-league boots allowed the wearer to travel seven leagues in a single stride. At the Seven-League Project, our aim is to enable you or your child to make similarly great strides, with our expertise and support. We approach each student as a unique individual, with his or her own unique background, personality, interests, talents, strengths, and challenges. Over their decades of experience as educators, our tutors have helped hundreds of students to gain admission to their dream schools, pass their exams, and feel more confident in their endeavors. We also design and offer enrichment courses that go beyond the curriculum, to enable students who are already strong in a subject to become even stronger.

The Seven-League Project offers virtual sessions to students worldwide, including to international students interested in standardized test prep for admission to US universities. In-person and virtual sessions are available to students in New York City.

Meet the Team

  • Maya has been teaching for over 20 years, since she was an undergraduate at NYU. Originally trained as a test prep tutor, she has aided countless students with both their college admissions tests and essays, and even co-authored an SAT textbook. In addition to college admissions exams such as the SAT and ACT, Maya has years of experience preparing students for the SHSAT, ISEE, SSAT, GRE and GMAT. She has also helped students with AP tests, Regents exams, and entrance exams to NYC schools such as Hunter and Lab.

In addition to test prep, Maya is passionate about teaching math to middle and high school students, and her enthusiasm is palpable. She has watched students go from hating math to, in one particularly auspicious instance, opting to major in math in college. With a master’s in bioethics from Columbia University, and experience working in stem cell research and for Mount Sinai’s Institutional Review Board, Maya is also an experienced academic writer and researcher, and loves to aid students in understanding grammar, structure, research and content for papers. She also teaches Spanish.

When not teaching, Maya is a sculptor and jewelry designer, working in clay, stone, and wax, and loves to connect with students by getting to know their personal hobbies and interests outside of the classroom.
